There are a huge number of types of martial arts. And there are many more styles in these types.
Some of those who decided to take up this sport cannot make a choice. Go to a boxing or karate section, or maybe capoeira…?
As in all life situations, the answer lies in a clearly posed question:
“What do you want to get from these classes?”
Some go to learn to stand up for themselves. MMA, hapkido, wingchun, hand-to-hand combat, etc. are more suitable for them.
Others – for participation in competitions. There are styles for them that are included in Olympic sports. They are usually safer than those listed above.
In any case, combat sport, like no other, strengthens character and spirit.
The most important thing for beginners is not to stop and not to quit. It’s normal that you don’t succeed in everything right away.Bruce Lee wasn’t born a legend either. What he achieved cost him years of grueling training.
You should start with simple strikes and movements, gradually complicating them and adding new ones. At the first stage, it is important toinstall the equipment. Strength and speed will come.
One of the key points is working in pairs. Whether it’s practicing punches on the paws or light sparring.
You should not give preference to the upper or lower body. You need to have perfect command of both hands and legs. Being able to block and take blows is no worse than attacking. After all, any defense can be instantly turned into an attack.
Respect your opponent. You shouldn’t hurt each other even in the ring. If you perceive the battle a little in a playful manner, then everything will turn out much simpler and better. But you shouldn’t get too excited.A fighter must always control his emotions and be responsible for his actions.
Control breathing and speed. Understand when to wait on defense and let your opponent give his all, and when is the right moment to attack.
Endurance is just as important as technique. Therefore, you should constantly include cardio exercises in your workouts. Such as running, jumping rope, exercises on an orbital track, exercise bike, etc.
It is advisable to also work out the deep muscles. Stand in a plank position, keep your legs and arms extended, perform static exercises.
A separate conversation about choosing the correct distance and stance, but we will discuss this in a separate post.
Total:
Three pillars of martial arts:
- distance
- technique
- endurance
Everything else depends on this base. For example, speed endurance.Having no stamina, you will make 5 – 10 quick blows and immediately become exhausted. Strength technique. You can deliver a very strong blow, but if you miss because the blow is not placed, you can easily injure yourself. Therefore, when studying any type of martial arts, focus on distance, technique and endurance. In the future, we will consider in detail all the main aspects of training.
